A CLINICAL STUDY ON THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS AND SAFETY OF HAPA- B IN URGINARY TRANT INFECTION

Abstract

|
HAPA-13, the new aminoglycoside, was used´ in the treatment of urologic infections and its therapeutic efficacy and safety were evaluated. Twenty three acute or chronic cystitis and seven patient with acute of chronic pyelonephntis were given 200mg-af lsepacin~ twice a day for seven to fourteen. days by intramuscular injection.
Among 30 patients with various urinary tract infection, Isepacing, brought total elimination of the bacteria in 25 patients, marked reduction of the bacteria in 2 patients, persistent infection(one Pseudomonas aeuruginosa, two acinetobacter) in 3 patients. Among 30 patients, 12 patients showed complete resolution and 16 patients showed marked improvement but 2 patients were regarded as failure. Thus overall clinical effectiveness was 93.3 %, In regard to safety, no clinical side effect attributed to be to the drug. was observed.
Thus isepacin´k appears to be a safe and effective drug for the treatment of urinary tract in fections.
